Lanka is a bijou of a patisserie/bakery shop in the heart of the Primrose Hill village. Chef Masayuki Hara came from Japan to train at le Gavroche in London 20 years ago. He evidently excelled in the patisserie department, judging by the exquisite displays of traditional French pastries, in addition to more robust carrot and cup cakes.
Everything is made on the premises, including the bread and croissants, which come accompanied by truly homemade jam. The coffee is Monmouth (and a bit more training is needed here), but the tea selection is excellent and exclusive to them from the Euphorium Tea Salon in Sri Lanka
Hara would like to have more seats in his little space, but I think the size is part of the charm. It is a good practice premises for a first venture in a very good location. Details of outside catering and cookery courses are on the website www.lanka-uk.com
