First, we have a 20 minute video call, just to say hello and briefly discuss the problem.
The sessions
The first session is for fact finding followed by a short science explanation as to how the brain works, and how we behave as we do. Don’t worry, it’s very simplified, but can be completely illuminating to clients when thinking about their own situation. It forms the bedrock for future sessions.
The importance of sleep quality is explained and the role of trance in the therapy. Before the next session a relaxation recording is sent, for the client to listen to every night before sleep.
The following appointments consist of talking therapy, which takes up about half the time, followed by a trance session. Because we want you as the client to keep looking forward towards the solution, there will be much positive talking about good things going on in your life, and what if they got even better. However, there is always space too for other things which are not so great, if necessary.
Trance
The best bit for most people is the trance. When sessions are online the client will lie on a couch or bed at home, to become completely relaxed. The therapist talks in gentle tones, describing images and metaphors, and suggestions relevant to the client’s aims.
You don’t have to worry whether you can be hypnotised or not. However deeply you relax is just fine.
Where do sessions take place?
I see clients in two London Clinics:
9 Coldbath Square EC1R 5HL
Charterhouse Clinic 98 Crawford Street W1H 2HL
And online.
Online works just as well but in a different way. And there are no restrictions geographically via Zoom.
Can I be sure what I say will be confidential?
The relationship between the therapist and the client is absolutely confidential, even when treating members of the same family. It is of paramount importance that the client feels completely safe and relaxed. That, and the will to achieve the desired goal, will ensure the best chance of success.
How many sessions?
The number of sessions needed depends on the nature and depth of the problem and how far the client wants to go in improving it.
As an average, anything with general anxiety and lack of self-confidence at its heart, might take between 6 and 12 sessions. A targeted phobia is often successful after 4 sessions, while only 1 x 2 hour session can be enough to turn a smoker into a non-smoker.
I offer single sessions or a package of 6 sessions for the price of 5.
