Here’s a surprising fact:
Many people who are over-stressed are not even aware of it.
“No, no” they say. “I used to be stressed but life is fine now. I love my job and my home is busy but normal.
My only problem is I can’t sleep.”
This is a typical conversation in my therapy room.
The thing is:
- You can get used to being stressed (stress habituation)
- You can get used to a high level of cortisol
- Until it feels normal in your body
Cortisol levels typically start high in the morning, declining towards evening and sleep.
And feels unnatural without it.
If they stay too high before sleep, we often can’t fall and stay asleep easily.
When we wake in the morning, we feel tired and lacking in energy.
Or too wired and stressed. Short tempered and frustrated..
If you feel this is you, what’s the path to a solution?
- Acceptance
- Be open to support
- Give yourself up to the process
- Prioritise yourself and your own needs
- Have optimism that things will get better
Hypnos was the Greek god of sleep. He knew a thing or two about sleep.
While hypnotherapy can’t 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 you sleep it can help you to let yourself fall into the best state for it.
And then
- the energy rebounds
- everyone around us is happier
- we rediscover clarity peace and optimism
Part of every hypnotherapy session is a trance state. But that’s not all of it.
